Fishing report September 2010
Fish Report: Week 37 - Sept. 13 through Sept. 20, 2010.
Three friends from Holland went to Lauklines, with the aim of catching the Holy fish, the Halibut.
The first day we went 100 meters from the harbor to fish the lath of 30 meters dept. The first pitch was directly hit, coal fish of 4 to 6 pounds, cod of 4 or 8 pounds, red bars, whiting, haddock.
It was really hard work to catch so many fish each throw.
The second day we went to the bridge at 100 meters dept with a quick upward Pilker to catch large coal fish. The third pitch was a hit, extremely strong coal fish around 12 pounds.
After the arms were soured by the run from 100-150 meters, we went down to a nice drift, 30 to 60 meters with a perfect breeze. With a macreel line and a small 50-gram blue shad we caught our first halibut. Unfortunately a baby 70 cm and 8 pounds.
Near the bridge on a sand plain we catch a huge amount of flatfish ( Schar en Schol ) with a little bait. For bait we caught first Macreel mostly common quantize near the bridge at 50 meters depth.
The third day, we went near the mountain Haja in the bay to catch flatfish, we lay our boat for Anker. 5 meters from the boat, suddenly a buldrug was swimming right at us. Two meters from the boat he comes up for air to breathe! Really scary moment but also nice.
We also fed with small coal fish sea-eagles. They just swooped over our heads to grab the fish, which was amazing.
Almost the last day we went fishing on the great sandy plain near the old fish factory fish on flat fish on 20 , while fishing with bait we caught within one two small halibut. The catch of the day was a school of 57 inches and 6 pounds.
It was a great week, the house and the boat were perfect.
We'll definitely return for a bigger Halibut.........
Sincerely,
